Strengthening Multimodal and Integrated Logistics Ecosystem (Subprogram 2)
The Strengthening Multimodal and Integrated Logistics Ecosystem (SMILE) program is a two-phase policy-based lending initiative aimed at boosting India’s manufacturing sector and supply chain resilience through a policy framework enhancing logistics efficiency. Subprogram 1 introduced critical policy and institutional reforms in the logistics sector, like the Government of India’s launch of the Prime Minister Gati Shakti-National Master Plan for Multi-Modal Connectivity (PMGS-NMP) and National Logistics Policy (NLP). Subprogram 2 extends implementation of these policies across central, state, and local governments while scaling reforms to more agencies, states, and municipalities.
