The project will construct critical sections of the southern east-west highway, facilitating industrial development in the southern areas, and integrating them more effectively with their primary markets in India. By expanding the road transport network in the southern region, it will increase passenger and freight transport within the country and with India, and facilitate industrial development in the south, a remote area with high poverty incidence but high agricultural and industrial development potential.
