Updated SASEC Integration Indicators from ARIC

Data for Integration Indicators in the SASEC subregion have been updated to reflect trade figures from the Maldives and Sri Lanka, SASEC's newest members. Their inclusion boosts SASEC intra-regional trade indicators, with new figures from the Intra-regional Trade Intensity Index highlighting the trade flow within the region and the re-calibrated Intra-regional Trade Share indicating the growing importance of regional trade. Data values for January-August 2013 were added.

The figures were provided by the Asia Regional Integration Center (ARIC), using ADB calculation of data from the Direction of Trade Statistics of the International Monetary Fund. An interactive Integration Indicators Database is available on the ARIC website, featuring a set of indicators for monitoring progress on regional cooperation and integration.

Emerging trends on intra-regional and inter-subregional trade in Asia, including South Asia, were discussed in the April 2014 issue of the Asian Economic Integration Monitor.
