Bangladesh to Purchase Hydropower from Nepal
6 July 2017
The Government of Bangladesh is now preparing to sign a power purchase agreement with India's GMR Upper Karnali Hydropower Ltd. GMR will be exporting 300 to 500 megawatts (MW) of energy generated by the Upper Karnali Hydroelectric Project in Nepal via India.
In April 2017, Bangladesh signed a memorandum of understanding with India's NTCP Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVN), a state-owned cross-border electricity trading agency, to import electricity from Upper Karnali Hydroelectric Project via India.
