Bhutan and Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sign MoU

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the presidents of the Bhutan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry on 13 May 2015, stating that both chambers would assist the enterprises of the other country to invest jointly in their respective countries. The MoU also anticipates establishment of a joint task force and the possibility of setting up industries under a joint venture.  

Dr. Alok Roy, President of the Bengal Chamber, said about 14 potential investors have already shown interest in Bhutan during the two-day visit. “We are not looking at Bhutan as a consumer market, but want to use Bhutan to produce something that the world doesn’t have,” he added. Meanwhile, Bhutan Chamber of Commerce and Industry President, Ugen Tshechup Dorji said Bhutan could function as a gateway to the huge market in the region.
