India Prime Minister Lays Foundation Stone for SASEC Corridor Projects

India Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 4 February 2024 laid the foundation stone for multiple road projects in Guwahati, Assam, to strengthen connectivity between Assam and the country's northeastern region and to Southeast Asia. The projects will also strengthen tourism and the delivery of healthcare in India.

The projects include the upgrading of 43 roads (including 38 bridges) under the South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) Corridor Connectivity Project. Among the projects are the upgrading of the Dolabari to Jamuguri road and the Biswanath Chariali to Gohpur road, both of which will be upgraded to 4 lanes to help push economic development in the region.
