Siliguri-Kathmandu Bus Service Resumes

Mr. Firhad Hakim, state transport minister of West Bengal, India, inaugurated the Siliguri (India)- Kakarbhitta (Nepal)-Kathmandu (Nepal) bus service. A private bus operator and the North Bengal State Transport Corporation (NBSTC) re-opened the bus route after closing operations for two years.

The bus runs a total distance of 615 km, with journeys beginning on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

The bus route is set to boost tourism between North Bengal and Nepal, according to Mr. Firhad. It will be helpful for travel to Siliguri, Darjeeling, and other neighboring regions of Sikkim, for work, tourism, medical, and religious purposes.

The state transport minister also noted that the Government of West Bengal is planning to start a bus service from Siliguri to Bangladesh.
