Construction of 132 kV India–Nepal Cross-border Transmission Line Gains Momentum

Construction of the Mainahiya (Rupandehi, Nepal)–Sampatiya (Uttar Pradesh, India) 132 kiloVolt transmission line has achieved 60% progress, noted the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA). This transmission line is important to facilitate electricity trade between India and Nepal
The project is estimated to cost around $8 million. It is aimed to be completed by July 2023. Completed works include foundation laid for 44 of 96 towers that will be erected across the 28-km transmission line.
The 6th meeting of Nepal-India Energy Secretary-Level Joint Steering Committee held on 24 January 2019 in Pokhara, Nepal, took up the decision to develop the 132 kV cross-border transmission line.
