Bangladesh Mulls Constructing New Pipeline to Import LNG
11 August 2019
The Government of Bangladesh is considering the construction of a new pipeline to import liquefied natural gas (LNG) from India. According to Mr. Nasrul Hamid, State Minister for Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources of the Government of Bangladesh, the country’s Gas Transmission Company Limited plans to install the pipeline near the Satkhira border. This will help supply LNG to fuel-based power plants and industries in the southeastern region of Bangladesh.
Importing electricity, LNG, liquid fuel, and coal will help increase Bangladesh’s energy reserves, said Mr. Hamid at a press briefing.
