Dhaka-Chittagong Expressway Public-Private Partnership Design Project

1 March 2012

Road transport is the primary mode of land transportation in Bangladesh responsible for 70% of passengers and 60% of freight. Between Chittagong the primary seaport accounting for almost all foreign trade and Dhaka the main commercial and administrative center road traffic is hampered by the lack of capacity of the existing 250-kilometer highway.

An ADB technical assistance loan will develop a design for an improved highway under public-private partnership financing.
