The Asian Development Bank, in collaboration with India’s National Academy for Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN), conducted a capacity-building workshop on Non-Intrusive Inspection (NII) Technologies on 2-4 December 2024 at the NACIN Palasamudram Campus, Andhra Pradesh, India. 20 Customs Officials from SASEC countries attended. 

The program discussed existing and emerging challenges related to trade and border security, and shared best practices on the use of NII for customs risk management. Through NACIN’s newly established Immersive Learning Centre and a field visit to the Bengaluru Air Cargo Complex, participants were introduced to the latest NII technology and provided hands-on experience on how these can be used to improve the efficiency of customs operations at borders and entry points for both cargo and people.
