Background Study on Logistics Policy Formulation for Nepal

The study on Logistics Policy Formulation for Nepal was presented in a virtual workshop on 8 September 2020. It outlines a comprehensive logistics sector in Nepal at two levels—within the country and cross-border—and identifies policy thrust areas to improve logistics infrastructure for crucial economic sectors.
More than 30 participants from various government agencies and private sector attended the workshop. Mr. Baikuntha Aryal, Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supplies of the Government of Nepal, led the workshop. In his opening remarks, Mr. Aryal emphasized the importance of logistics for the country’s economic growth and affirmed his commitment to ensuring the formulation and implementation of policy actions to support logistics sector.
ADB will process a policy-based loan to support reforms in the logistics sector in Nepal to be programmed in 2021. Mr. Ronald Butiong, Director, Regional Cooperation and Operations Coordination Division of ADB’s South Asia Department, and Mr. Mukhtor Khamudkhanov, ADB Nepal Country Director, led the participants from ADB.
