Inter-subregional Knowledge Sharing Forum for CAREC and SASEC

Customs officials from Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program and South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) Program gathered in Tbilisi, Georgia on 31 October 2019 for an inter-subregional knowledge-sharing forum on trade facilitation and customs modernization.
The Meeting
- Exchanged knowledge and experience on transit controls and facilitation, joint border controls, and regional improvement of border services;
- Shared best practices on various aspects of trade facilitation reform and modernization; and
- Discussed and identified critical success factors for effective implementation of border controls enabling efficient trade flow and resource allocation.
This Meeting is the first inter-subregional knowledge sharing between SASEC and CAREC countries.
On 2 November 2019, participants scheduled a study visit to a border facility. The study visit showcased best practices in facility design, operations, and institutional coordination.
