
Eighth SASEC Customs Subgroup Meeting

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) organized the eighth meeting of the SASEC Customs Subgroup (SCS) on 1 November in Tbilisi, Georgia, which brought together senior customs officials of South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) member countries.
Outcomes of the Meeting include:
- Reviewed implementation status of subregional and national projects under the SCS Trade Facilitation Strategic Framework and SASEC Operational Plan covering customs cooperation, modernization, automation, and border infrastructure improvement;
- Trade facilitation projects for possible inclusion in the SASEC Operational Plan; and
- Innovative trade facilitation initiatives, including e-commerce and application of blockchain technology, that the SASEC Customs Subgroup will pursue.
Mr. Ronald Butiong, Director, Regional Cooperation and Operations Coordination Division, South Asia Department, ADB, moderated the meeting.
