SASEC National Single Window Consultation Workshop

The Asian Development Bank (ADB), in collaboration with the Maldives Ministry of Economic Development, organized a consultation workshop on South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) National Single Window (NSW) on 9 April 2018 in Malé, Maldives.

Mr. Mohamed Saeed, Minister of Economic Development, and Mr. Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, Commissioner General of Maldives Customs Service, opened the workshop. The Minister stressed the importance of an NSW to improve trade procedures and ease of doing business. The Commissioner General of Customs emphasized the need for an NSW in Maldives to benefit traders and attract foreign investors.

Resource persons shared knowledge and experience on the implementation of the NSW system with more than 50 participants from various government agencies. The participants also reviewed the progress on preparatory work on the SASEC NSW Project and discuss the next steps.

Issues raised by participants will be taken into consideration in line with the preparation and implementation of the SASEC NSW Project.
