Bhutan Department of Revenue and Customs ICT Training: Phase 3

11-21 Jan 2016

Seven core IT specialists from Bhutan's Department of Revenue and Customs (DRC) attended an intensive ICT training course on 11-21 January 2016 in New Delhi, India as part of DRC’s preparations for the roll-out of its automated Revenue Administration Management Information System (RAMIS).

The training focused on Web Application Security, with both theory and practical approaches applied. The overall training program includes database administration, advanced Java technology, and IT project management.

RAMIS has been developed by the Indian company CMC, Ltd and the launch of the final components of the automated system is expected in 2016, at which time the system will be handed over to DRC for maintenance and future development. Accordingly, DRC is upgrading capacity and skills of its key IT personnel to ensure a smooth transition to the country-led implementation of RAMIS.

Funding for DRC participation in the training sessions was provided by regional technical assistance from the Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction, with logistical arrangements made by the Asian Development Bank.
