Benapole-Petrapole ICP, Chittagong Port Launch 24/7 Operations

1 August 2017

The ports of Benapole-Petrapole between Bangladesh and India began round-the-clock operations on 1 August 2017, following an agreement between the two countries to operate the Benapole-Petrapole Integrated Check Post (ICP) 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.

The move significantly reduces port congestion by easing clearance of import/export cargo, in this major land crossing for Bangladesh-India trade.

The Benapole Land Port reported significantly reduced cargo congestion on the second day of 24/7 operation. Trucks carrying import/export goods saved around 2-3 hours.

Bangladesh's Chittagong Port has also implemented round-the-clock operations.
