India Allows Export of Essential Agri Commodities to Maldives

The Government of India has allowed the export of select commodities to Maldives for 2017-2018 without any policy restrictions and prohibitions. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, India, announced the decision in a notification dated 27 June 2017.

The decision, which took effect in April 2017, allows the export to Maldives of 11,714.45 tonnes of potatoes, 19,466.36 tonnes of onions, 67,640.24 tonnes of rice, 59,442.17 tonnes of wheat flour, and 11,706.3 tonnes of sugar under a bilateral trade agreement between India and Maldives.

The products will be exempted from any existing or future restrictions or prohibitions.
