WCO Asia Pacific Regional Workshop on Risk-Based Cargo Selectivity

The World Customs Organization (WCO) in cooperation with Japan Customs held a WCO Asia Pacific Regional Workshop on Risk-Based Cargo Selectivity to define a common approach in managing customs risks and emphasize the importance of risk management to organization members. Mr. Takehito Matsumura, Deputy Director General of Japan Customs and WCO representatives highlighted:

  • Importance of adopting a holistic approach in risk management implementation; and
  • Relationship between risk-based cargo selectivity and effective resource allocation and trade facilitation.

 

The 38 participants from 23 Customs Administrations also discussed high-risk cargo through the methodology explained in the WCO Customs Risk Management Compendium. ADB and the Japan Customs Cooperation Fund co-financed the workshop.
